A new customer service system was introduced in tax offices on 1 October 2024. As of that date, access to confidential details of individual taxpayer cases will be available only via a helpline operated by the National Revenue Administration KAS or via taxpayer’s Tax E-Office account. Any telephone contact with tax officials is no longer possible and any such calls will be rerouted to KAS helpline. Calls with helpline staff are recorded.

Helpline staff will provide information on PIT, CIT, VAT, customs regulations, Tax Portal and e-returns, including information about:

  • the status of your tax returns,
  • the taxes you paid,
  • any overpaid tax or tax refunds,
  • other details subject to tax confidentiality rules.

As a taxpayer, you can access such information after your identity is authenticated with a telePIN assigned uniquely to you. TelePIN is available after you log in to Tax E-Office. However, only individuals with PESEL (the Polish national identity number) may long in to Tax E-Office. Taxpayers may also authorise agents on whom they confer their Tax E-Office account rights and use such agents to long in to the new system.

These changes do not affect services for large taxpayers, who will continue to be served by customer relationship officials from the dedicated tax office in Warsaw (Pierwszy Mazowiecki Urząd Skarbowy w Warszawie).

While the changes are designed to improve communications with tax authorities (the helpline will be open from 8 am to 6 pm on business days), they require appropriate preparations on the part of taxpayers.
